About Me

Matt T. Clark (he/him)
I am a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Leeds.
I use philosophy and applied ethics to help find solutions to current social challenges, including through engagement with public policy.
My research interests focus on how we can build better organisations and the social and political dimensions of trust. At the moment, I am focused on expanding our understanding of the ways organisations can be more moral and better support their members' ethical development.
I am especially interested in how organisations and institutions alter how individuals reason and whether organisations can and should have civic & political virtues (and, if they do, what they should be).
I retain an interest in the role that trust does and should play in our societies, especially how it is linked to improving our quality of life.
My doctoral research explored what trust and trustworthiness are and how organisations - in particular businesses - can be trustworthy.
I also have broad interests in the nature and demands of work, liberal democratic theory, normativity, social ontology and philosophy of social science. These come from a concern with understanding the philosophical foundations of our everyday lives and politics.
